In Yirgacheffe agriculture is based on traditional methods. Although coffee
production is one of the most lucrative, the farms also produce other vegetables
and fruits. Due to the landscape, the coffee cherries are picked by hand and no
chemicals are used. The capital of the region is also called Yirgacheffe and the
most symbolic natural attraction is the Bonga Mountain. Yirgacheffe is home to
many members of the gedeo ethnic group who are famous for their coffee-making
traditions.
