Additional information
La Llama is a small ten-hectare farm located in Villa Rosario, in the mountainous region near Caranavi, Bolivia. Sitting at 1,650 meters above sea level, it is the highest farm managed by Los Rodriguez and offers ideal conditions for coffee cultivation, with cool temperatures that slow cherry maturation and enhance sweetness and complexity in the beans.
The farm is surrounded by native and timber trees that provide shade and promote biodiversity. Exotic coffee varieties like SL28, SL34, and Geisha thrive in this unique microclimate, often covered by a mystical fog resulting from the mineral-rich soil and shifting temperatures. Named “La Llama” after a llama spotted on the land during the first visit, the farm embraces the spirit of this iconic Bolivian animal.
Since its acquisition, La Llama has become a cornerstone of Agricafé’s operations, growing high-quality varietals such as Geisha, Batian, Ethiosar, Orange Caturra, and Java, while also supporting reforestation with species like Tajibos, Mara, and Ceibo.
During the harvest season (April to November), the farm comes alive with 50 to 200 pickers carefully selecting ripe cherries, ensuring that every step of the process reflects La Llama’s dedication to quality and sustainability.
