Additional information

Guji, a prominent coffee-growing region in Ethiopia, gained recognition in 2005 when it transitioned from gold mining to coffee cultivation. The coffee plants in Guji are relatively young, producing some of Ethiopia’s most vibrant and juicy coffees. The Uraga region has garnered attention for consistently producing coffees that rank in the TOP 40 of the Ethiopian Cup of Excellence.

The Gedeo people, who also inhabit this region, are known for their hardworking nature and vibrant culture. They predominantly follow a vegan lifestyle, relying on agriculture as their main source of livelihood. Skilled in both horticulture and agriculture, the Gedeo are also deeply connected to their Protestant faith. Their most significant celebration is the Darraro festival, which marks the end of the coffee harvest and the Gedeo New Year. During this time, they wear their traditional blue garments and gather for festivities, reflecting their rich cultural heritage.
