This first-flush tea is harvested in early to mid-May and is based on the zairai (native) tea variety.
Zairai refers to traditional tea plants passed down through seed propagation before modern cultivar breeding began.
While cultivated varieties such as Yabukita now dominate Japanese tea production, zairai-based tea has become extremely rare and precious.
It offers a deep, natural flavor that reflects the land itself, yet remains light, refreshing, and easy to drink.
